Sir,
I am 65 years old. My husband is not alive now. I inherited a plot from my husband. I am a retired govt. servant. During my service I built a house in the above said plot, availing a housing loan from the State Govt.(Tamil Nadu). I just want to know whether I can avail the reverse mortgage loan. Since the plot is an inherited one, can I get no objection certificate from my daughters and son. The plot only is an inherited one. I built the house from my income. I just want to know whether I am eligible to apply for the reverse mortgage loan.

reverse mortgage is very unattractive and a bad scheme.Better to sell the property and put the money in the bank and take a smaller accommodation for rent. At 12%
discounted if your horse is worth 60 lakhs today, and if the time horizon is 15 years the discounted vbalue is only 15 lakhs. So you get 15 lakhs one time payment for 60 lakh house and at the end of 15 years houre is gone if the property does not appreciate substantially.

Banks in India announce with great pride they offer an extra 0.25 or 0.5 per cent extra interest to senior citizens. When it comes to reverse mortgage, they make the elders pay as much as 12.50 or 12.75 per cent interest for loans against their valuable property! Do we care for our senior citizens, Mr. Prime -cum- Finance Minister?
