|Bassein Catholic Co-op.Bank Ltd. came into existence as Credit Co-operative Society – by Rev.Msgr.P.J.Monis on 6th February 1918. The credit society got converted to an urban cooperative bank on 13th March 1986. The bank became a scheduled cooperative bank on 1 December, 1990.
The deposits of the bank have shown rise from Rs.65.58 crore in 1990 to Rs.1613.89 crore in 2009 and advances growth of Rs.39.58 crore to Rs.1057.08 crore in the same tenor.
The current business mix of the bank is worth Rs 3000 crore and it aims at taking it to Rs 5000 crore in the upcoming years.
The bank has also been awarded with the following awards:
*The Best Urban Co-op. Bank for the year 2004-05, 2005-06, 2006-07 and 2007-08 by The Maharashtra State Co-operative Bank’s Association Ltd., Mumbai.
*3rd, best Urban Co-op. Bank for the year 2007-08 having deposits above Rs.500.00 crore by The Maharashtra Urban Banks Federation Ltd., Mumbai.
*"The Best Performing Co-op.Bank Award 2008-09" . 2nd position from All India, 1st position from Maharashtra state and 4th Highest deposits holding Co-op.Bank in India by INDIAN ACHIEVERS FORUM, New Delhi.
