ICICI ahead of HDFC this time in terms of employee count

Country’s second largest leading bank ICICI bank took over the HDFC - bank with highest employer in banking. Previous year HDFC was on the top with maximum employees, this time its ICICI. More than 72,000 employees are working in HDFC bank. According to the reports the working staff of the majority of the banks increased by the end of the March 14, where as in the HDFC bank the employee count decreased by 900.

In leading banks like ICICI, Axis, Kotak Mahindra, IndusInd and Yes Bank the employee strength rise by over 20,000 in 2013-14. Last year HDFC bank was the leading bank with the maximum number of employees 69,065. ICICI bank has also recorded more profit and total Income than the HDFC bank.

It has been also reported that that hiring activities picked up in the banking sector during 2013-14, as the total job addition by the top five banks rose to close to 22,000, from about 15,000 employees added in the previous year. The profit per employee for HDFC bank increased from Rs 10 to Rs 12 lakh. For ICICI bank the profit per employee remained flat at Rs 14 lakh. ICICI bank added maximum number of employees to its payroll.
