Nationalized insurance company, United India Insurance Company Ltd, aims to expand its sales base throughout India by increasing the number of its sales agents. At present, the company has about 50,000 agents on its roll. It plans to recruit another 50,000 all over India.
The Chairman and Managing Director of United India, Mr. G. Srinivasan said, "Within the next couple of years, the state-owned insurance company will deploy 50,000 agents across the country in addition to the same number of agents on roll". As for training the agents, he said that candidates who would have passed the IRDA stipulated examination would be trained by the company itself.
Apart from sales agents, the company has 350 openings for general officers and specialist officers combined. At present the company has about 170000 employees in 1500 offices across the country.
United India is all set to launch its latest scheme, which is aimed at the workers covered under the Workmen's Compensation Act .The scheme, slated to be launched by month-end, would cover the medical expenses and hospitalization fees of industrial workers in case they meet with an accident.
Mr. G. Srinivasan said that the profit target of the company in the current year is Rs 10,000-crore. Last year the profits stood at Rs 8,179 crore.
