The largest lender of the country, State Bank of India has set up a self service kiosk at its branch located in Panjab University campus in Chandigarh. The kiosk has been introduced so as to reduce the hassle caused in branch counters and also to promote the habit of using debit card by customers. The bank has launched three more such kiosks in Chandigarh. According to S K Sehgal, chief general manager, Chandigarh circle, these SSKs will add to convenience of customers and also make them self dependent. They can thus learn how to update their passbooks themselves, make changes in personal information, get mini statement, make internet banking registration and other activities all on their own. Many financial as well as non financial transactions can also be carried out by customers in these kiosks.
