ATM robbery still an issue of concern

A case of robbery reported in area nearby Chennai. According to the reports a robber tried to blast and rob an ATM near Chennai containing a cash of Rs 34 lakh. The robber triggered the crude explosive with battery, but he find that the machine was much strong that he thought.

The robber was there in the ATM for about 15 mins , he ran away when he noticed the gathering of the police officers outside the ATM. With the help of the security cameras it has been noticed that an unknown was making a survey of the ATM a day before this incident.

It has been reported that robber has covered used a black bag to hide his face. He hit the machine many times with a cleaver and succeeded in making a dent in which he stuffed the bomb. He connected the ends of a cable from the bomb to a battery, setting off the blast. The explosion slashed a metal panel off the ATM and sent it crashing into the glass door of the kiosk. The security cameras showed the blast took place at 12.50am. The robber then unsuccessfully tried to open the ATM's cash chest. The robber escaped after 4 mins of the blast. State Bank of Mysore officials filled the ATM with Rs 34 lakh on Saturday evening.
