Last day financial service secretary Rajiv Thakur stated that, banks should keep the ATM transaction free. On the growing demand of the bankers to charge the customers for ATM transactions MR. Thakur commented that if banks will charge customers for ATM transactions then customers will rush to banks for making transactions.

He further stated that, it would be more costly for the banks to provide services from the banking branches. The recent attack in the ATM created a hustle bustle regarding the security of the ATM, due to which banks wanted to charge for ATM transactions. Mr. thakur is not in the favor of this according to him banks must rethink over this. Many ATM are situated in crowded areas so there is no need of guards in such ATMs.

Currently customers can make unlimited free transaction for their own bank ATM. The ATM transaction cost is low then the banks need to serve the customers for the transactions at the banking windows.
