In recent times there has been a lot of discussion regarding the hike in the ATM charges. In order to bring the operations of ATM in practice, the national payment council summoned for a meeting to suggest the measures regarding this.

The chief executive of the NPC reported that the panel of six bank members was called to monitor the overall cost of ATM transactions, and suggest the feasible hike that is required to bring. The panel constituted of members of State Bank of India, ICICI bank, Axis bank, HDFC bank, Bank of Baroda and Punjab National bank.

Currently the bank is charging Rs 15 for the ATM transactions. After the recent attacks in ATMs the banks have complained about in viability of ATM operations. Therefore banks need funds to enhance the security and make the ATM operations safe for the public as early as possible.
