Affect of banking strike in Southern region

The recent reports have shown that the relay strike of the banks that started yesterday from the southern region, affected transactions of worth Rs 50,000.The strike is supposed to continue for the 3 more days.

Over 10,000 branches of 51 banks in both private and public sector have participated in the strike. The strike will severely affect the transactions. Around 80,000 employees are the part of the strike. Last month also banks halted the operations for a single whole day agitating for the wage revision but govt. has not accepted their demand so now the banks are on a continuous strike of 4 days, halting banking operations in different regions. The employees are seeking 25 per cent jump in their salaries, while the IBA has offered to get 11 per cent hike.
