Private sector lender Kotak Mahindra Bank is likely to tie up with Manipal University in order to offer customized banking course to post graduate students.

With lenders like ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank having already started to offer this policy, Kotak Mahindra also plans to join the league in collaboration with Manipal University.

The benefit banks get in offering such tailor made courses is that since these study material is designed as per individual process requirements of banks, so the degree holder takes lesser time to learn work when he joins his respective role in the bank after completion of the course.

The successful completion of the course would enable the candidate to join the bank at the position of probationary officer (PO) in branch banking level.

The course will be start in December this year. For the first two quarter, the size of each batch would be kept at 60.

The bank aims to recruit as many as 300-400 people via this course per year.

"This course will take care of our requirement for probationary officers, who can do relationship management. Earlier, for this, we relied heavily on management graduates from campuses, which we would now try to rationalise and use this route (Kotak's post graduate diploma) more," he said.
