Bank deposits, credit picks up by 14-16%

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) data showed that the bank credit and deposits has increased by 14-16 per cent in the past 12 months.

The data was released in the bank statement issued by the RBI. According to the data, Banks' deposit stood at Rs 6,411,036 crore which is up by 13.8 per cent from last year's deposits of Rs 5,629,374 crore.

The credit growth was up by 15.8 per cent at Rs 4,809,384 against last year's credit of Rs 4,149,670.

The investment of the banks rose from Rs 1,736,256 crore to Rs 1,995,659 crore on government securities.
