The Banks in Dakshina Kannada district have achieved growth in the total business of 19.12 per cent during the second quarter of the current financial year. Mr. J.S. Shenoy, Deputy General Manager of one of the leading banks in the district, Syndicate Bank, informed this at the district-level meeting held here on Thursday to review the performance of banks in Dakshina Kannada district. He said that the banks recorded a business of Rs 34,219.63 crore in the second quarter of 2012-13 against Rs 28,727.19 crore in the corresponding period of the previous financial year. Deposits stood at Rs 22,992.67 crore (Rs 18,782.29 crore) and advances at Rs 11,226.96 crore (Rs 9,944.90 crore). However, Mr. Shenoy expressed concern over the decline in credit-deposit (CD) ratio from 53 per cent in the second quarter of 2011-12 to 48.33 per cent in the second quarter of 2012-13. Mr. Amarnath Hegde, Lead District Chief Manager, said that credit disbursement of Rs 2,385.99 crore has taken place in the district during the second quarter against the target of Rs 2,450 crore.
