New Branches established by several banks in Orissa this year

According to the reports in Bhubaneswar the commercial banks have established new 155 banking branches in the first half of this fiscal year. On the whole the total number of branches in Orissa has increased by 3.92%.

From the total of 155 branches, 120 branches are set up by public sector bank, while private sector banks and regional rural banks (RRBs) have opened 29 and six branches respectively. The banks are working to enhance the banking services in rural areas. With the aim to cover 1,118 GPs in 2014-15 the govt has banks to set up more banks in such areas.

The highly networked bank of the country- State Bank of India has established 29 rural branches till September. Different banks are covering unbanked Gram panchayats by setting up new branches, ICICI bank has to cover 194 GPs for opening of branches followed by Axis Bank (189) and HDFC Bank (178).
