In order to assure the smooth banking functioning through the ATMs, the IBA is looking forward to put some suggestions to the RBI. The banks will be asked to increase the guards at the ATM and no ATM machine will be refilled with the cash after 8 in the evening.

The banks are also asked to increase the ATM network across the country by establishing ATMs at all the branches. Finance minister Mr. P. Chidambaram has instructed the chairpersons of the bank to keep an eye on the working of and development of ATMs.

Further it has been reported that finance ministry is keen on expanding ATM network in the remote areas of the country as well. It has been expected that by next the ATM will grow from 1,20,000 to over 2,50,000 . To enhance the banking transactions facilities banks are asked to increase the number of branches in the areas where the banking penetration is low.
