Recent reports displayed that banks are endeavoring to complete the target of opening more than 7 crore savings accounts under PMJDY by the end of next year. With the aim to achieve this bank are working hard, in the Gujarat so far 14 lakh bank account have been opened by the bank so far.
Reports have also stated that in total there are 1.22 crore household to be covered, of which 93 lakh households have one or more bank accounts as of now. All the banks in the state are working for this. SLBC report showed that gross advances of the banks in the state is Rs 3,48,667 crore and gross non-performing assets (NPA) is Rs 14,046 crore, 4.03% of total advances as of June 2014.
Home loans have dropped down by 23%, lesser people have applied for the home loan. Hitherto education loan have seen a rise in the state. The education lan increased by 4%. Banks have disbursed education loans to 2,313 students to the tune of Rs 47.63 crore during April-June 2014.
