The investment banking arm of State Bank of India, SBI Caps Ltd, with the aim to view to grow its revenue beyond the infrastructure segment has restructured to form a new business groups. SBI group is now trying to expand its presence across non-infrastructure sectors. But meanwhile, it also continues to build expertise in infrastructure and project financing. Managing Director and Chief Executive, Ms. Arundhati Bhattacharya said, "Infrastructure and advisory business linked with it will remain strong". Ms. Bhattacharya also said that the bank has formed groups with each of them looking after three-four sectors to pursue business opportunities. SBI Caps provides services like project advisory, arrangement for structured finance, capital market services like equity issuances, acquisitions, mergers and arrangement for private equity. A top executive with one of SBI Caps' rival public sector investment banking unit said that SBI Caps is one of the leading project financer and it has around 40 per cent of the market share. And it has the benefit of working closely with corporate banking teams at parent bank.
