Shortage Of Employees In The Public Banking Sector

The public sector banks are facing a serious shortage of the employees and there are over fifty six thousand vacant posts, in different levels. In the Officer level, there are over 23,700 vacant posts, in about twenty five public sector banks. In the Bank of Baroda alone, there are 5,815 vacant posts. There are about 1,500 vacant posts for the officers, in the Syndicate Bank. Andhra Bank is working without the help of 1,484 officers and the bank is unable to recruit officers, because of the critical situation. In the Bank of India, 1473 officer posts are vacant. In the clerical category, over 22,000 posts have to be filled and the SBI associated banks are also working without sufficient employees.

Nearly ten thousand posts are vacant in the sub-staff level. During this financial year, the public sector banks are going to open ten thousand new branches, out of which, two thousand branches are going to be started by the Regional Rural Banks. Over fifty thousand employees are going to be recruited by the banking sectors.
