Allahabad Bank to set up 4 branches offshore

Public sector lender Allahabad Bank, in a bid to increase its foothold overseas, has aimed to set up four new branches on offshore mainland. The bank has also applied to regulator Reserve Bank of India for its permission on the same.

According to CMD of the bank, Mr J P Dua, "We have approached the regulator for opening overseas branch each in Dhakha, Shanghai, Singapore and Hong Kong. With this Hong Kong will have two branches."

The bank is now aged 148 years in terms of its existence.

It already has a representative office in China.
