Banking women ranked among the 100 most powerful women

It has been reported that the State Bank of India Chairperson Arundhati Bhattacharya and ICICI Bank Managing Director Chanda Kochhar are among the 100 most powerful women in the world.

Mrs. Bhattacharya has been ranked 36th at the power list and Mrs. Chanda kochhar is ranked 43rd. Forbes stated that Mrs. Bhattacharya the chairperson of the country leading institution holds for an about USD 380 billion in assets. She is among the one of the most powerful women of the Asian sub continent. Not only is she the first woman appointed to the position, but she is also the youngest at age 57. At the time of the glooming economy she supported for major reforms across agriculture, industry and the financial sector.

On the other hand Mrs. Kochhar holds for an about $ 125 billion assets. Her focus on mobile banking and attempt to avail banking facilities in the rural areas has been praised. Kochhar has been an outspoken proponent of clearer banking laws from the government led by new Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
