The strike called by the bank unions yesterday partially affected the branch operations. Most of the public sector banks branches were open but there was a considerable dip in the attendance.

The strike was observed to report disagreements on the recommendations suggested by the Khandelwal Committee. There are issues related to the outsourcing of jobs among others.

The General Secretary of All India Bank Employees' Association, Mr. Vishwas Utagi said, "The shutdown in the banking and financial sectors has been complete. The RBI's clearing houses are shut. So the private and foreign banks, where we do not a have a presence, also get affected."

Private sector banks like ICICI bank, HDFC Bank and Axis bank did not participate in the strike.
