Highest Number Of Complaints Against Public Sector Banks – Reserve Bank Of India

The ombudsman section of the Reserve Bank of India has received the maximum number of complaints against the public sector money lenders State Bank of India and its associate banks, United Bank and the UCO Bank, in the order, in the North East Region of India. The HDFC Bank is leading the chart of the private sector banks, which is followed by the Axis Bank and the ICICI Bank, against whom the Reserve Bank of India received, during the financial year, 2012-13. The ombudsman of the RBI of North East Region, Mr. Anand Prakash said that people have the highest complaints against the SBI and its associate banks. In the year 2012-13, the ombudsman section of the Reserve Bank of India received a total of eight hundred and seven complaints, from seven states of India.

Arunachala Pradesh, Assam, Mizoram, Manipur, Megalaya, Nagaland and Tripura are the seven states. Out of the 807 complaints, 379 complaints have been received against the State Bank of India group. Assam is the state, which dominates, as far as the complaints are concerned, as 617 complaints have been received by the ombudsman section of the RBI. The ombudsman division is a quasi judicial body and has fifteen offices, across the nation.
