The north eastern belt is soon going to come under the envelope of financial inclusion with the Financial Inclusion Network and Operations Ltd (FINO) harboring plans to venture there.

"We have tied-up with some private banks and also State Bank of India to expand financial inclusion services in the north-east. At present, experimental operations are going on,'' Mr Mario S. Roche, Vice-President and head of zonal operations said.

Amongst the many lenders to have tied up with FINO are ICICI Bank and Axis Bank from the private sector domain, said Mr Roche.

FINO performs its operations using the business correspondent (BC) model and works on behalf of banks.
