SBI appoints S. Vishwanathan as head of its associate and subsidiary banks

The largest public sector bank in the country, State Bank of India, has chosen S. Vishwanathan, its current Managing Director, as the head of all its associate and subsidiary banks.

It is reported that Vishwanathan had recently been raised to the post of Managing Director and was made the in-charge of the bank's mid corporate segment. Prior to that, he served as the Chief Executive of SBI Caps, the investment banking enterprise of the bank.

Confirming the news, Vishwanathan said that the Deputy Managing Director of SBI, Mr. Shyamal Acharya has been handed over the mid- corporate segment. Earlier, Acharya was leading the associates and subsidiaries of SBI, which included five associate banks and a life insurance arm, apart from several other concerns.

State Bank of India has five associate banks under its umbrella - State Bank of Jaipur and Bikaner, State Bank of Hyderabad, State Bank of Travancore, State Bank of Patiala and State Bank of Mysore.
