Banks successfully accomplished PMJDY task 1 month before

According to the recent reports, the banks have successfully accomplished the task of opening 10 crore savings account under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana. 1 month before the deadline declared i.e. 26th January,2015 the banks have achieved the target of 10 crore savings account.

With the aim to provide savings account across each household, and provide the savings account facility to all the poor and rural people the PMJDY scheme was launched. Earlier the target was 7.5 crore accounts but later it was increased to 10 crore savings account. Along with the opening of savings account the Rupay debit cards are also issued to the beneficiaries.

A total 7.74 crore Rupay debit cards has been issued. It is also noticed that states including Goa, Kerala, Tripura and Madhya Pradesh as well as union territories of Chandigarh, Puducherry and Lakshadweep have opened at least one bank account in every targeted household.
