FinMin raised the PMJDY from 75 million to 100 million

It has been reported that seeing the tremendous work done by the banks under the PMJDY, the finance ministry has raised the target of the scheme. The scheme was initiated with a target of 75 million and now it has been extended to 100 million.

According to the recent reports the banks have successfully opened 80 million accounts till 25th November,2014. Now soon all the families will hold atleast a savings account in the country. Furtjer it is reported that the finance minister discussed the possibility of integrating the Jan Dhan Yojana with the National Rural Livelihood Mission by bringing it in line with self-help groups and integrating the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme with the DBT scheme.

Financa Ministry has also asked the banks to spread the financial literacy among the peopple and organise the camos in order to explain the importance of savings account and other financial services. Finmin alos asked bankers to ensure availability and activation of RuPay cards issued under the Jan Dhan Yojana
