India's second largest private sector bank, HDFC Bank, has reached yet another milestone by setting up its 10, 000th Automated Teller Machine (ATM) in the country. To mark the special occasion, the bank chose to set up its 10, 000th ATM near the sacred shrine of Ajmer Sharif Dargah in Rajasthan.
To inaugurate the ATM, the bank invited its 10, 000th customer of Ajmer branch. With the launch of its new ATM, HDFC bank has become the third Indian Bank and the second private sector bank to have 10, 000 operational ATMs spread throughout the country.
A large network of strategically located ATMs helps customers to carry out their banking requirements as and when they need. The bank issued a press release which said that in future also the bank will keep on expanding its network of ATMs and locate them in remote areas.
On the occasion, Mr. Rahul Bhagat the Country Head (Retail Liabilities, Marketing & Direct Banking Channels) of the bank said, "Over the years, HDFC Bank has built its electronic channels to offer choice and convenience to its customers across geographies with 70 per cent of our ATMs being outside the four metros. Also, 82 per cent of our total transactions happen on our electronic channels and 83 per cent of our active customers use the ATM at least once in a month."
